Lone Tomato

Two tomato plants are thriving. I planted three. The one in the middle started wilting. One expert said it looks like Fusarium Wilt. Nasty thing – google it

This is how it looked Friday

I’ve decided to try to save it. So I gave it a haircut.

PCT Trail Angel

It hasn’t been long.  Two days now that I think about it.  This past Memorial Day weekend got me to thinking about the house, our goals, and changes we want to make.

The front yard is flourishing.  People stopped by and took photos of the flowers.  Now we have shifted to the back yard. Seeding a lawn is the next step.  Hopefully by next year, the hikers will have a space to crash for a night and do their laundry and get supplies.  Also a nice home cooked meal.

Yesterday I drove out Willow Springs Rd to the trail.  Then it started to click.  I became more active on twitter, drove around town today to try to help hikers shuttle around,  Only once did I drive out and no hikers.  Well, hikers that where headed back into Tehachapi.

I met another trail angel, Jetta Blue.  I asked her for some tips and pointers.  I had sent an email to a hiker named Mac last night.  Along with their input, the discussions with the hikers, I think I will be a better trail angel for the rest of this season.  Jetta Blue did say that there is a big group of hikers headed this way.  I’m glad this has worked out.  I will do my best to try to help out in the coming weeks.

Pacific Crest Trail

We took the top off the Kia. Loaded up Maddie and Rupert and went for a drive. I wanted to go to the trail head for the PCT. I had noticed two hikers a few days ago. I would’ve given them a ride but didn’t know exactly where the trail head was.

To our surprise when we got to the trail head there was a hiker hitching a ride into town. We drove him in to the campground at the airport. There were two hikers there slready and we saw one walking towards the campground.

The plan is to try to be as helpful as we can to get them through that ten mile stretch from/to the trail head.

Contain Yourselves

Today we are starting the container gardens in the backyard. We are also planning out the irrigation and planting later of a grassy sunny spot for the furry children

Went to Home Depot and budgeted stuff out. We saw some friends that were also getting their garden purchases.

We will start clearing out the area in front of the privacy fence.

Space has been prepared, weeds removed, post holes dug.
